My 1st Snowshoe

Old Man Winter finally showed his face around here today! Mom and I and Old Man Baba went for a snowshoe and I got my very own to try! I tromped around like you wouldn't believe and Baba called me "Baby Frankenstein" and Mom called me "Baby Sasquatch".

We found an awesome tree swing that, don't tell, I thought was more fun than snowshoeing!

Mom and I had fun swinging "spider style".

There really wasn't enough snow for a true snowshoe experience, but it was fun anyway!

Ski Bunny

Today was my first day skiing and I loved it! Mom signed me up for ski lessons every Monday of this month. I did really well for my first time and I can't wait to go again next week!

Mom thought I was the cutest darn thing she's ever seen. She couldn't stop laughing and telling me how adorable I looked after putting these goggles on me (and my instructor told me they were "rad").

Okay, so I'm still learning to snow plow. I ran right into the fence but it didn't phase me 'cuz I'm tough. Sorry it's so hard to see, it's just off of Mom's phone.

After lessons, Mom and I joined my friends Madeline and Owen and their parents for lunch up the mountain. We got to ride the gondola up and then down after a classic ski lodge lunch.

This year we spent Christmas in Wyoming. I got almost everything in the Barbie aisle this year including the coveted Barbie Dream House with an elevator! Here's me with my loot from Grandma and Grandpa:

I got to visit with Santa last week! Although I was a little freaked out by him this year, I still managed to tell him about a couple things from my Christmas list (Barbie Dream House and a glass doll). I hope I'm on his nice list this year!

Today is my four and a half birthday! Mom and I made a half a cake, just like last year. I made a huge deal out of this special day and proclaimed my new age to anyone that would listen...like the cashier and bagger at the grocery store, the lady that seated us for sushi dinner, the server, the water boy, the.... the list goes on and on...

I had the best Halloween yet! I got to eat a bunch of extra candy and dress up as my favorite princess, Sleeping Beauty!

Mom and I went camping with friends to the San Rafael Swell last weekend. I had a ball playing in the dirt all day and I slept like a rock at night!

We got to go to California again! We had so much fun last year we thought we'd try it again. This time we spent most of our time in Laguna Beach but did manage to go south for some SeaWorld!

Here's some pictures of me at the beach. The weather was perfect while we were there but the ocean was super cold. I thought the waves were kind of freaky anyway, so I mainly stuck to poking around in the tide pools.

I love Shamu! He didn't get us very wet but the dolphins took care of that for us. Those pesky dolphins drenched Dad and I, and we weren't even expecting it like we were with Shamu.

First Friends

We went on a school field trip to Silver Lake up Big Cottonwood Canyon. I'm getting to be a such a good little hiker I even got my own CamelBak! I'm really loving being around all my buddies this year and sometimes get in trouble for not being able to keep my hugs to myself!

Utah State Fair

Baba and NinaMa joined us at the fair this year! It was so much fun!

I was so excited I got to ride Rocky! He was the horse I rode for the first time back when I was 2.

Baba tried to feed me to the goats. Wish they would have gotten his old man hat instead!

NinaMa and I LOVED the baby piggies! (Like my shiner? I fell at school and got a black eye.)

Snowbird 2011

Me, Mom, and Dad went up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Snowbird today. We had a "really really fun" time!

The tram ride up to 11,000+ feet was amazing! Here's us at the top:

Then we hiked down to a chairlift that took us all the way back down. I'm a good little hiker though I'm learning that rocks like to jump out and trip me when I'm running down the trail. Guess I should stop doing that.

And here was the best part! This year was even better than last year when we did it!

Cecret Lake

Yesterday Mom and I went for a hike with Kiki (Kirsten) and her mom and some friends. I was carried most of the way up but hiked around the whole lake and the whole mile plus down!

There's still patches of snow in the mountains and I used them to my advantage-- Mom got hit with multiple snowballs!

After that, Auntie Meowmie and Mom said back in unison, "and I cannot lie!". (They still haven't told me that the song really goes, "I like big butts and I cannot lie.")

Mom and I went to Seattle to visit Auntie Marnie for a few days. Baba met us up there too so I definitely got my fill of Hansen craziness. I'm pretty sure I wore them out as much as they wore me out though! Anyway, here's a good bunch of photos...

The creepy but cool Fremont Troll

A ride on a Duck. It's a WWII amphibious vehicle that toured us through town then floated us around part of the Puget Sound. Our tour guide/driver blared loud music and had us quack at cars, boats, and people. It was a spectacle.

The Space Needle. In line to go up I found a lady bug and carried it all the way to the top and back down again. Then I put her nicely back in a plant with all her buddies. I was definitely way more into the bug than the view, but at least she kept me occupied!

Baba treated us to a carriage ride from Hammer the Horse. I even got to feed him 2 carrots at the end! And guess what? I learned that "even horses have to stop at red lights!".

We had a super fun time, and I learned lots of silly things from Baba and Marnie, but we're happy to be home! So, guess what? Chicken butt! (I told you they taught me new things!)

Mom felt terribly guilty for my botched birthday gift of a bike that was too big; fortunately she hunted down this teeny little two-wheeler. This was honestly my first day on it and I made Mom so proud that she forgot all about how bad she felt! And look, I can even bike in a dress!

"I'm turning 4!", is what I said all day today. I had a really hard time going to bed last night because I couldn't believe that today would ever come. Well, I'm pleased to say it did and I woke up this morning convinced that I had grown (even without a good nights' sleep)! Anyway, I had a "girls only" party today, and this is what we did:

Decorated cupcakes.

Ate cupcake cake.

And had a zebra pinata, but that was kind of a bust (pun intended) so there's no fun pictures (seriously, it's wasn't that cool). Oh, and I got TONS of super presents like a Barbie, a tea set, Play-Doh stuff, a swimming doll, a swimming and walking dog, gardening tools, a helmet to match the bike that Mom bought a million sizes too big-- and that's just the half of it. Happy 4th to Me!

Yesterday we went to a farm where BaBa and NinaMa buy their beef and pork. Once a year, the farmer and his family invite city folks out to check out where their food comes from (Mom didn't want to talk much about how the cute little piggies may someday be my dinner!). My favorite part of the visit was getting to jump on their trampoline, oh, and the baby chicks were pretty stinkin' cute too!

It's like the Easter eggs that just keep giving! We had a nice little storm here this evening so Dad came up with the brilliant idea to float my empty eggs shells in the gutter. I chased them all the way around the corner from our house. It was a splash!

We stayed close to home for Easter this year, though I was concerned The Bunny was going to hide my eggs in Wyoming instead of here! Silly me! My favorite saying of the day was, "The Easter Bunny is tricky!", since he hid my stuff all over the place. We had a nice little egg hunt at Baba and NinaMa's and then a delicious dinner (I sweet-talked Baba into making ribs and of course he obliged!). Here's some new pics:

Camping is Swell

We went camping this weekend with some friends and BaBa and NinaMa to the San Rafael Swell. Before we left, BaBa asked if I was excited to go camping and I exclaimed, "Yeah, and I even get to poop in a hole!". Anyway, I am a super good camper and got extra filthy!

See, even a princess plays in the dirt sometimes.

Me and Baby Elizabeth loved the campfire. It would have been even better if Mom hadn't forgotten the marshmallows and graham crackers for s'mores. At least I still got to eat the chocolate.

It's hard for Mom to accept, but really, I'm all things princess. Grandma bought me this BEAUTIFUL Rapunzel dress and heels then took me to see Disney on Ice yesterday. Several people asked what my favorite part of the show was and I always enthusiastically replied, "All of it!" (though eating a huge tuft of cotton candy was earthshakingly magical).

Mom likes this picture because she thinks I look like Auntie Marnie.

We just got back from a relaxing vacation in Cancun! Pretty much our days went like this: wake up whenever, breakfast, cervezas for Dad, sit on the beach, cervezas for Dad, lunch, watch Cinderella in the room while Mom goes to gym, cervezas for Dad, go to the pool, dinner, cervezas for Dad, Dad and I pass out by 9, margaritas for Mom.

The first day was overcast and a little chilly. It was okay though as I was a little sick (had a fever and was throwing up the day before we left), so we mainly just snuggled on the beach.

The rest of our time there was beautiful and sunny! Here's a view from the pool area of the hotel:

I met a little girl from Chicago named Ariella who gave me her Barbie sunglasses. She wouldn't wear them and my eyes got sunburnt without them, so it was a perfect match.

Snowshoe

Me, Baba, and Mom went for a little snowshoe today. We didn't make it to our final destination since I got cold and Baba and Mom got tired of lugging me around (after all, I am almost 4!). It was still lots of fun and Mom promised/demanded that I'll have my own snowshoes next time!

Christmas 2010

Here's some very late Christmas photos. Mom and Dad didn't take many good ones so they hesitated posting any at all. Alas, any photo of me is worth posting so here you go...

We spent Christmas Eve at Baba and NinaMa's house. I was very excited that Marnie was there too! And as you can see, I dressed for the occasion.

Christmas dinner was at Jan's house where we decorated cookies and got a sugar high.

The day after Christmas we headed to Wyoming to see Grandma and Grandpa. I got a beautiful new doll whom I named Baby Abella, a toy mixer so I can "help" Mom in the kitchen, a doll head with long hair to style, and tons and tons more!

This year I had the best visit with Santa ever! I sat on his lap for almost 5 minutes, not because my list is long, but just to chat. We talked about Rudolph and being a good girl for Mom and Dad (that part was in one ear and out the other!). Yesterday I turned three and a half!!! I was so excited about this day and was pretty sure I grew to be an even bigger girl overnight! Mom and I made me a half of a cake and I got to blow out three and a half candles. Later I asked Mom, "Can we celebrate my birthday two times every year?". She said she'd think about it...

Oh, and I'm not missing a tooth, that's a lentil I found on the table left over from dinner.

I've been taking swimming lessons since this summer. I cried for the first 10 times but have really come a long way since. In fact, I was just awarded Swimmer of the Month for "Most Improved" student through my program! Mom and Dad are proud...

South Dakota

We took a trip to South Dakota over the weekend. Mom lived there as a kid and wanted to introduce me to the Black Hills. I got to see where Grandma Linda (Mom's mom) is buried and could have sworn I could feel her head when I walked on her grave. I told Mom, "If we just dig and dig and dig we'll be able to find her!". Mom was happy I was there to put a little humor into the situation.

Circus

I went to my first circus last Sunday- it was loud but spellbinding! I told Mom and Dad that I'm going to grow up to be a "circus person". My favorite part was the ballerinas, though killjoy Mom and Dad told me there wasn't any ballerinas. I suckered Mom into buying a $12 cotton candy that I refused to eat but somehow still ended up with a sore tummy. After the show, I asked, "Is there such thing as getting circus sick?". All in all, I loved the circus and can't wait till it comes again.

We went to the fair today with my buddy Seren. I saw cows, chickens, a giant turkey, sheep, goats, and bunnies. And can you believe I'm finally big enough to ride a ride? Yesterday was the first day of my second year of nursery school! I'm excited about all of my new friends but not so excited about Mom leaving me. The fish were really biting; I caught some with worms, Dad caught some with just a hook and no bait, and Mom caught one with a Swedish Fish candy (it's true, and it was Dad's idea so hopefully the fish wasn't harmed or Mom and I would cry).

I can't even tell you how excited I am about being 3! I've been telling everybody, all day, "I'M 3!!!". When I woke up this morning and was still laying in bed thinking, I asked Mom:

Mom: "Yep, even in there. Even everywhere!"

Today was the last day of my first year at nursery school and they hired a REAL LIVE PONY to help us go out with a bang! My time with her was very short, but it just makes me more excited for a pony ride this fall at the state fair. Giddy-up!!!

Zion Zoe II

We headed south for a couple days as Dad took his birthday week off work. We had a super fun time biking, hiking, and hot tubbing and I really wanted to "sleep at the hotel for a couple more days."

Here's me riding with Dad. I made it almost to the top of Zion Canyon- more than 15 miles round trip! My cheeks are now chapped but, it was worth it!

The second day we hiked to Zion's Emerald Pools. I gave Mom and Dad a break from carrying me when I got distracted by a "big girl" whom I named "Buttah". I chased her yelling, "Buttah! Buttah! Buttah! You can't catch me!". Needless to say, I had a good nap after that!

Over the past couple months, I've noticed that Dad and I eat meat but Mom does not. She's says that's because she's a vegetarian. Here's a few things I've said about vegetarians lately:

Mom: Hey Zoe, these guys don't eat meat, just like Mom! What does that make them?
Me: Sick.

Elmo Live

Grandma and Grandpa took me to see Elmo today. When we pulled up to the E Center to park I asked, "Is this Elmo's House?". I was told yes. My favorite part of Elmo's performance was "when they were singing all the songs". Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

This is this year's Christmas tree. It's really pretty but Mom complains that the ornaments don't stay on because 1) the branches aren't very strong and 2) I'm a very curious toddler that can't keep my sticky little paws off anything!

Turkey Day 2009

We had a great Thanksgiving! Auntie Marnie and Shado came to see me and we had a full house for dinner. Do you like my outfit? I insisted on taking my undershirt off in order to put my bikini top on instead. And Mom got me this hat that I wore for this picture only. Hope everyone had a nice turkey day too!

Daddy made me a big girl bed! I love it, even though I'm not allowed to jump on it!

These pictures were actually taken after another trip to the emergency room. Long story, short: I fell and hit my teeth on the frame of my new bed. My two front teeth were pushed in towards my throat. Although they are both still there, they might have to come out before it's time for them to fall out. We'll just wait and see for now...

Going on a Bear Hunt

Grandma got me this cute Halloween skirt; Mom and I just made the finishing touches. I got to go to a "harvest party" at the zoo where everyone was invited to wear Halloween garb. I love this outfit and hate that Mom takes it away to wash it!

Zoo Day

Dad took last Thursday off just to hang out with ME! We went to the zoo to ooh and ahh over the new baby elephant, and to ride the carousel too, of course.

At bedtime that night, Daddy asked me what animal I liked seeing the best. I said, "the lion". The lion was the animal I rode on the carousel--he didn't say it had to alive!

Utah State Fair

Yesterday, Mom and I went with my buddy Piedra and her mom to the fair. I steered clear of the goats this year (I remember them licking me last year), plus, Mom told me I had to wear closed-toe shoes so the animals wouldn't nibble on my toes--that didn't help. Anyway, here's the highlights of our adventure:

A balloon flower. I love those silly buskers!

And a ride on a pony. His name was Rocky and I got to ride him for a long time since I was the only one there.

Today was my first day of Nursery School. Mom and Dad signed me up for the Community Co-op Nursery School, so Mom got to come with me today. I did pretty well, but Mom thinks I have some social skills, like sharing, to work on; I did lots of yelling, "MINE! MINE! MINE!". Friday will be my first day alone- we'll see how I do...

My 1st Haircut

Mom and Dad took me to get my first haircut today. The lady talked Mom out of cutting bangs, which means the neighborhood will continue to hear me scream every time she tries to pull my hair back.

Me, Mom, and Baba went for a hike yesterday. I walked a little way, Mom carried me a lot of way, and BaBa lugged me the rest of the way.

We spent our holiday weekend whooping it up in the sticks! Mom and I had our first ATV ride; I thought it was loud and sort of scary. Otherwise, I had a great time playing in the dirt, spying antelopes, and eating treats Grandma snuck for me.

All that and I've still never seen these things called fireworks...

Zoo

Yesterday Mom and I went to the zoo with Evan and Seth, the twins Mom used to nanny, and their mom Carolyn. It was fun but got hot fast!

Minnesota

Mom and I made a quick trip to Minnesota after her Uncle Keith died. It was the first time meeting most of Mom's family and I'm pretty sure I made a good impression! Too bad I was too late to meet Great Uncle Keith.

Here's me kissing Baby Tally. She's Mom's cousin Lindsey's baby, which would make her my second cousin 11 times removed but only on Saturdays, or some weird title. Tally is 9 months old and almost the same size as me! I love her.

Mom and I went to the Mall of America and all I got were some new undies and a ride on the Ferris Wheel.

I loved catching the tiny toads at Jean's (another cousin) house. They were everywhere! At one time, I was holding 3 in one hand (but then I tripped and fell and squished them)!

Snail

Naked ABC's

I'm learning my ABC's and that it's best to be naked as much as possible. My favorite part is LMNOPEEEEE!!! On that note: potty training is coming along great! I'll have an accident every few days, but other than that I only wear diapers to sleep. Mom says she can't take much credit for my success; I started it on my own, she and Dad are just the helpful reminders.

Popsicle and New Glasses

For the past couple weeks, the prospect of an after-nap popsicle on the porch has been persuading me out of bed (sorry for all the p's- I'm potty training, so pee is on persistently on my mind- ha ha). Really, I love popsicles and ask for them constantly, even though I know it's an afternoon snack.

Oh, and I went to the doctor today for my 2 year check-up and a foot x-ray. I'm 21 pounds (2nd percentile) and 32 inches tall (21st percentile), so I'm tiny but healthy. My foot is fine. I jumped off my toy box yesterday and Mom and Dad were worried about my limping- 'tis just a little bruise and I shall be jumping off bigger and better furniture in no time!

I got a bike for my birthday (they're starting me out young). It doesn't have pedals because it's just supposed to teach me how to balance and glide. For now it's just "tippy tippy".

Dad took the day off work to hang out with me. We all went to the children's museum- I liked shooting the balls down the tubes the best.

We went out to dinner with Grandma, Grandpa, BaBa and NinaMa, but I really just wanted to get home for cake. Mom made me this giant cupcake birthday cake. I got to deck it out with sprinkles, can't you tell?

Here I am at this beautiful park and all I could do is scream. It didn't help that Mom was taking pictures of my tantrum.

I finally bucked up and rode the airplane with Harpie. Too bad I couldn't take her back with me on a real airplane, ho hum...

Mom, Harper's Mom Meg, and I went for a hike while Harpie took a much needed nap (I wore her out pretty well). I got to see this beautiful lake, a deer, tadpoles, frogs, a skink, and lots and lots of trees.

Thanks for the super-fun visit Meg, Drew, and Harper! We miss you!
